Dr. Abella is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He specializes in non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation to improve patients’ functional activities.
Dr. Abella graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1985. He received his medical degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1990. He completed Internship and Residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Metro Health Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to joining Orthopedic Partners, Dr. Abella was an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the Department of Orthopedics and Physical Rehabilitation.
Dr. Abella has sub-specialty interest in physical rehabilitation of persons with spinal disorders. He has expertise in comprehensive non-operative management of patients with orthopedic disabilities. He is a member of the North American Spine Society, International Spine Intervention Society, and Ameri- can Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
