About
Corrie
Corrie Schmitt, FNP-BC, RNFA, is a highly skilled Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse First Assist specializing in orthopedic care at Orthopartners. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Biology and her nursing education at The George Washington University, later pursuing advanced practice training. With a strong foundation as a Registered Nurse in busy Emergency Rooms in Virginia and San Diego, Corrie spent seven years in Orthopedic Trauma in California, where she was mentored by an exceptional surgeon from her early days as a new graduate NP. This experience deepened her love for the specialty, particularly the rewarding combination of restoring patient function and participating in the operating room.
Originally from Massachusetts, Corrie recently relocated to be closer to family, bringing her wealth of expertise and compassionate approach to Orthopartners. What began as a practical post-graduation job search evolved into a true passion for orthopedics, where she finds profound fulfillment in helping patients regain mobility and independence through both conservative and surgical interventions.
In treating patients, Corrie places the highest value on truly hearing their stories and goals. She believes that patients often reveal their diagnosis through careful history-taking and that success hinges on identifying the one motivating factor that drives each individual forward. Her approach involves thorough evaluation, correlation with clinical imaging, and stepwise treatment plans that typically begin conservatively and progress as needed, always tailored to the patient’s unique aspirations.
Outside of medicine, Corrie cherishes time with her two young children, finding joy in watching them discover the world with wonder and excitement. Her days off are filled with caring for them, small family adventures, beach outings, and quality time with loved ones—activities that recharge her and remind her of the simple joys that inspire her patient-centered care. Patients appreciate Corrie’s warm, attentive demeanor and her commitment to partnering with them on their journey to recovery.
